Fort Samaipata

Fort Samaipata is a pre-Inca archaeological site that functioned as a ceremonial center. Located southwest of Santa Cruz, in a pleasant plain, surrounded by mountains.

The red sandstone forms the Mirador, a majestic hill believed to have been the ceremonial center of the city and consists of numerous engravings.

This site is considered the cultural, archaeological and touristic center of the eastern valleys and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.
