Noel Kempff Mercado National Park

Located in the northeast of the Department of Santa Cruz, Velasco Province, and a small section in the eastern Iténez Province of the Department of Beni. The municipalities involved are San Ignacio de Velasco in Santa Cruz and Baures in Beni. It borders with the Republic of Brazil on its eastern boundary. The area offers a diversity of ecosystems, noted for their uniqueness and its conservation status. In addition, the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park has exceptional scenic beauty characterized by great cliffs and waterfalls of the Caparuch plateau a unique formation of the Precambrian Shield. There are various historically attractive sites in the neighboring region, like the Jesuit Missions in the towns of San Ignacio de Velasco, Concepción and San Javier, which were declared "Cultural Patrimony of Humanity" by UNESCO.

 

Madidi National Park

Madidi National Park and Natural Area of Integrated Management is located between the Abel Iturralde and Franz Tamayo provinces in the northwester part of the Autonomous Department of La Paz. The Madidi National Park is characterized for being one of the most biodiverse, in flora and fauna as well as in ecological layers. The territory of this National Park hosts perpetually snowed mountains, Amazonian plains as well as a multitude of ethnic communities. It is considered one of the most biodiverse in the world and one of the 20 most popular tourist locations worldwide. Because of its enormous environmental quality, it generates significant economic benefits for conservation and ecotourism to the region.

 

TIPNIS

Indian Territory and Nacional Park Isiboro-Secure (TIPNIS) is characterized by its extraordinary diversity of ecosystems due to its wide range of altitudes. It hosts a rich biodiversity, with over 600 of bird species as well as exceptional scenic beauty in the unexplored mountain region. Among the tourist attractions its worth mentioning the lush vegetation, rivers, lakes, and particularly its rich wildlife. Inside the park there are archaeological sites of great historical interest. Another important feature is its indigenous population that have preserved their traditional ways of managing natural resources. Located between the departments of Beni (Moxos Province) and Cochabamba (Chapare Province).

 

Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve

Hidden in the heights of the Andes, in the southwestern corner of Bolivia, is the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, the most visited protected area in the country, with at least 30,000 visitors a year. The mountains of the Reserve are the highest Andean mountains of the borders between Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. This park is filled with volcanoes, hot springs, steaming geysers and fumaroles.

 

Kaa-Iya National Park and Natural Integrated Management Area

Kaa-Iya National Park and Natural Integrated Management Area of the Greater Chaco is the largest in Bolivia and one of the world's largest, covering an area larger than Belgium. The park is the only area to protect the extensive remains of the South American Chaco, and it houses most of the ecosystems characteristic to the Chaco. In this park, though of seemingly little importance and monotonous landscape, the huge wealth of wildlife gives it an exceptional interest for the development of ecotourism and adventure tourism. The importance of the area is increased by the presence of the Izoceño, Chiquitos and Ayoreo indigenous cultures that, among other achievements, produce highly stylized handicrafts.

 

Sajama National Park

Located in the Southwestern Sajama Province of the Oruro Department, bordering with La Paz to the north and west with Chile. As part of the volcanic Western Cordillera, is characterized by its towering volcanic cones such as Mount Sajama and Payachatas. The Sajama is the highest and most imposing peak of Bolivia at 21.457 feet above sea level. Also presented here are several Andean lakes and wetlands. The park corresponds to the Puna ecoregion.
